She wasn’t gonna organize anything at first but thanks to Bang, our regular nice guy, she had a party at Home club with lotsa booze, friends, and yea, booze.

Craziness ensued. Chaos reigned. Mariah Carey popped by. And I got knocked out by the end of the night. Bang said the mark of a good party is a guy holding his head over the toilet bowl at the end of the night haha cheebai.

Applied for an internship at HBO asia’s PR dept. Hopefully I’ll get it and start in August. Even if it’s not paid (but I hope it is), HBO on my resume will look very good indeed cos these days educational papers don’t mean shit. They open the door for you but work experience gets you in.
The best trip back to Japan ever.

It’s a 5 episode documentary featuring Singaporeans tracing their roots back to several asian countries namely China, India, Indonesia, Thailand and for yours truly, Japan.

I must say none of this would have been possible without the heads up given to me by my good friend Bang. I wasn’t really keen on it at first because I thought it would have been a hassle (for some reason) but I’m glad I did it. I always knew I had an interesting past but my dad was never the sort who treasured his roots. He wasn’t a big fan of Japanese culture anyway. To him, he’s Japanese and that’s it. He’s more interested in German philosophy and seafood fried rice than tea ceremonies. His general disinterest, coupled with the fact that frequent trips back to Japan are almost impossible due to monetary constraints have hampered my attempts at finding out more ab...

to find my roots...

Bang forwarded an email to me the other day and it was some sort of a casting call for japanese, nepali, koreans who were born in singapore and want to trace their roots back to their respective "home-land". i kinda hesitated at first but then bang was like "fuck you free holiday lah cheebai!"

oh alright alright...

i replied to the mail and the director for the documentary called me the following night to schedule a meeting. that was quick! so i met this david suen fella from dream forest at paragon and after talking n stuff he was fucking excited to put me in the show cos i told him how my ancestors were samurai, how my uncle and me are judoka and wanna visit the kodokan, how my dad left japan pursuing a non japanese life but ironically i want to return there and find my roots. worthy of the ratings i must say.

mediacorp okay-ed the thing

and then my dad said he can't take leave. wahlao upset...

not even for a few days to appear on tv for the first time in his life back in his home country...

those are the words on my brand new shaker bottle from nutrifirst. and it seems that was what the gym instructor at hilton was trying to tell me today, albeit in a hushed and politically correct manner.

you see, the gym boys have recently shifted our testosterone filled workouts from The Pines (bang has membership there), to the hilton hotel gym (very atas ah? actually no julia gabriels staff get to work out there for free so we sign the rest of the boys in.) everything was fine until we recently started on this thing called High Intensity Training or HIT for short.

in essence, the HIT workout demands that you pack heavy weights so you can only do a few reps, say 6 - 8 at very slow speeds (4-5 seconds up and 4-5 seconds down) which at the end of, you reach muscle failure. that's when everything goes numb and you cannot, for the life of you dish out another repetition. HIT encompasses all muscle groups, all exercises, everything. one set. max out and that's it. believe me, it's hell. al...
